Drink Your Water, Dear © 2025 by Jessica Sanborn
I have a tendency to forget myself. This tendency gets especially strong in busy seasons. I send my energy outward, neglecting the things that feed my soul or my body. In the middle of one such season, I met a friend for a late morning walk. As I drove into the park, I realized that I left my water bottle at home. I also realized that I neglected to eat that morning. And the only beverage I consumed was my morning cup of coffee. This is not ideal.
“You need to drink your water, dear!”
This gentle admonition landed on my heart. And I knew that it was about more than the water bottle I forgot on my countertop. The message kept arriving in various forms over the course of just a few days.
“You need to drink your water, dear!”
And I still need the reminder. To drink in the sunrise. To drink in poetry. To let music soften my heart. To listen to the trees. To create. To play. All of it is prayer. All of it essential.
